Nea Kallikrateia
On the central road that joins Chalkidiki with the rest of Greece, built in a neuralgic position, Nea Kallikrateia is the most famous resort of Thessaloniki. Only 20 kilometers far from “Macedonia” airport, and 35 kilometers from the “Queen of the North”, gives the guests the opportunity for tours for sightseeing in Chalkidiki, and the city of Thessaloniki.
Its name was given from the refuges of the homonymous village in the East Thrace that moved here. Kallikrateia was a big village by the sea, clean, beautiful and wealthy with view to Propontida, 33 kilometers from Konstantinoupoli. Until the exchange of populations, it was constituted by 485 Greek families, that were farmers, cattlemen or preoccupied with shipping and trade. The patron saint was and still is Saint Paraskevi.
